Write-in Scott Phillip Lewis for Congress
Independent Nominee for NY's 21st Congressional District
Independent Nominee for NY's 21st Congressional District
Ding. Ding. Ding. Let’s get ready to rumble! In the right corner, we have Elise Stefanik,
the incumbent Trump sycophant with an unbelievable ability to take credit for things she didn’t do! And in the left corner, we have newcomer challenging carpetbagger Paula Collins, an out of touch cannabis attorney from New York City, who has the democratic principles of Fidel Castro.
It is surely a battle between two partisan candidates in which the people of New York’s 21st Congressional District are guaranteed to lose.
If only there was another candidate in New York State’s 21st Congressional District that
put the United States of America before any political party! A candidate who isn’t going to ask you for money or attempt to buy your vote. A candidate who is also not swayed by money.
Such a candidate is necessary to end the divisive two-party, bipartisan gridlock that is
deteriorating the public’s confidence in Congress’ ability to be effective.
Well there’s good news, NY-21. That nonpartisan, independent candidate is myself, Scott
Phillip Lewis. Because of the anti-democratic efforts of my political opponent, Paula Collins, you will not find me on the ballot when early voting begins on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Despite these egregious efforts to restrict my access to the ballot, I will continue my candidacy as a write-in candidate for this year’s General Election.
In an October 7, 2024 article by NCPR Paula Collins states that “truthfulness” is a pillar
of her campaign. Then let’s talk about the truth, Paula!
I began circulating petitions and collecting signatures to obtain access to the ballot on
April 16, 2024 for the independent "Common Sense" platform (New York State Election Laws require an independent candidate to name a party).
Dates and deadlines for obtaining signatures for an independent are different for candidates running to represent a political party. By late April, Paula Collins had secured the nomination as the only Democratic candidate while I was just beginning to collect signatures.
I had agreed to an oral (but valid) lease with an individual lasting through the end of the
independent signature collection deadline of May 28, 2024. During this time, you may have signed my petition while I was standing in front of store-fronts or walking sidewalks across the district.
In the second week of May, I was unlawfully evicted, with all my belongings and
political property improperly seized. Immediately, I anticipated political sabotage. My initial hunch thought it was Elise Stefanik behind the funny business. I had figured she had caught wind of the momentum I was gaining and was afraid. How could she not be?
After continuing to obtain the required signatures, while mostly sleeping outside for the
remaining weeks, Essex County Democratic Chair, Margaret Bartley filed objections to the
submitted petition and was ultimately represented by none other than Paula Collins, the
carpetbagging cannabis attorney and my political opponent, attempting to use the unlawful eviction as grounds to restrict my access to the ballot.
If Paula was not involved in the unlawful eviction, how did she gain knowledge of such
an event? Did she conspire to evict me to make signature collection activities more difficult? Was she watching me?
She will have to answer how she obtained such knowledge in the subsequent civil conspiracy lawsuit I have filed.
More importantly, Paula needs to face the truth about her anti-democratic principles
during this election season.
Imagine this. I’m in Albany County Supreme Court attempting to validate signatures and
the bipartisan New York State Board of Elections, their attorneys and Paula Collins are shaking hands after teaming up in attempts to keep me off the ballot! And now she wants to talk about “truthfulness” and her democratic principles? Has she told the voters her democratic principles include restricting nonpartisan, independent candidates from the ballot? I don’t believe she has.
I am confident that I have been restricted from the ballot unlawfully and the bipartisan
New York State of Elections has failed to abide by New York State election laws for a
nonpartisan candidate.
My legal challenges have yet to be considered. I have pending litigation in both Federal
and State court. The bipartisan New York State Board of Elections is a monumental problem in the eyes of a nonpartisan candidate like myself. It is important to hold all individuals involved at the New York State Board of Elections accountable for interfering with “We the people’s” voice.
As I said on June 28, 2024 during oral arguments at Albany County Supreme Court, “it is
our founding fathers who attempted to minimize the restrictions in the electoral process when drafting the constitution. It was at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 where James Madison observed that the qualifications of the electors and elected were fundamental articles of a republican government, and ought to be fixed by the constitution. If legislature could regulate either or both, it could subvert the constitution. Madison further added that a republican form of government could be converted into an aristocracy or oligarchy if this were to happen.”
Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is happening. I said in March when I announced my
candidacy, this is not left versus right or democrat versus republican. This election is about the rich versus the poor, right versus wrong.
We can show Paula Collins we don’t appreciate her coming from New York City to
spread her anti-democratic venom.
We can show Elise Stefanik we don’t appreciate her doing nothing, never being in the
district and then taking credit for ideas that aren’t hers (I’ll take the assist on the Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act, Elise).
I have already been doing the work that Elise Stefanik and Paula Collins are incapable of.
I not only have recognized the issues that exist in our district but have taken initiative to begin creating solutions while holding individuals, organizations, municipalities and the State of New York accountable.
We have an opportunity here, NY-21. We can be the district to end the two-party gridlock
in Washington in a spectacular, miraculous fashion in the district where the Miracle on Ice took place. We can be the district to show the world that dark money isn’t necessary to win elections.
We can do it by writing my name “Scott Phillip Lewis” or “Scott Lewis” when voting begins on Saturday.
Together, we can make history.
Herb Brooks, coach of the 1980 Miracle on Ice team, said during the pregame speech
against the Soviet Union. “This is your time. Now go out there and take it!”
Scott Phillip Lewis, Nonpartisan Candidate for New York State’s 21st Congressional District
We are not just a land of laws but a country that enforces these laws. Without law enforcement, we would live in chaos. That's why I support law enforcement. I support the Rule of Law. No one is above the law in the United States of America.
Our communities and children must be safe. That's why I am the best candidate to create common sense gun reform while protecting second amendment rights to ensure these instances of domestic terrorism and mass shootings end.
We are only as strong as our military. At this time, it is imperative to have representatives who have our military's best interest and not Russia's. That's why Elise Stefanik is dangerous. Our interest is to have the world's best military without using our men and women in Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Not only will I ensure our military, and allies like Ukraine, are fully funded to put Putin at bay, I will make sure our veterans are taken care of. Our veterans must receive the world's best healthcare in return for their service. Anything less is unacceptable.
Elise Stefanik has proven she is not serious about fixing our border and immigration problems. I am going to Washington to fix problems, not just complain about them like my adversary. Elise Stefanik has showed all voters she is not serious about fixing problems. She only wishes to blame, not fix any issue she complains about. We need actual leaders to create solutions. Elise continuously proves this is not her.
If MAGA has it's way, Social Security will die. Too many in District 21 depend on Social Security. Let's not vote for those who want to take your benefits away!
I am a proven Civil Rights fighter and passionate about equal opportunity. I am the best candidate to ensure all citizens Liberty will remain intact and hold those accountable who violate individual liberties.
